Mission Statement To provide landowners in St. Clair County with the resources, educational programs and materials, and professional services through which to make wise decisions on the management of their natural resources.
|
The St. Clair Conservation District is a "unique" local unit of State Government, that utilizes state, federal and private sector resources to solve today's conservation problems. The guiding philosophy of all Conservation Districts is that decisions on conservation issues should be made at the local level, by local people, with technical assistance provided by government. Created to serve as a steward of natural resources, the St. Clair Conservation District takes an ecosystem approach to conservation and protection. Our vision is to help all citizens of our District to have livable communities in harmony with the environment. We play a special role in urban and non-urban areas where land use change is taking place.
The St. Clair Conservation District continues to expand into diverse areas of natural resource management, rising to meet the environmental challenges of our local community through workshops and informational speakers. For more information on these programs, contact the District office at (810) 984-3001 ext. 5.

The Environmental Stewardship Division of the Michigan Department of Agriculture provides assistance to the St. Clair Conservation District in the conservation and development of our soil and water resources. Programs administered by the division encourage the installation and management of sustainable resource protection practices at the local level. The Division's Groundwater Stewardship Program protects groundwater resources through voluntary, locally driven initiatives that address the concern of individuals and maintain a focus on realistic solutions and the financial and technical constraints which drive real-world decisions.
Each spring and fall the St. Clair Conservation Districts sells a variety of high quality conservation seedlings for erosion control, wildlife habitat, reforestation, windbreaks, and many other conservation purposes. Seedling varieties generally include wildlife shrubs, hardwoods, conifers (evergreens), grasses, ground covers and wildflowers.
