St. Clair County Purchase of Development Rights Program
Mission Statement:
“To develop a voluntary process that permanently protects farmland and open space while ensuring a viable agriculture and natural resource base, environmental benefits, innovative development and smart growth practices in St. Clair County.”
The Purchase of Development Rights program has been designed to do two things: 1) create a long-term business environment for agriculture by creating blocks of the most productive farmland, 2) avoid areas designated for growth and development so as not to compete with the development interests.
The St. Clair County Agricultural Preservation Board meets the 3rd Thursday every other month in Conference Room B of the County Administration Building, 200 Grand River Avenue, Port Huron, Michigan.
