| About This Land Use Guide
|
Within St. Clair
County our coastal communities harbor not only a majority of the unique
or sensitive natural features found in the county, but it also supports
the majority of our population, intensive development, and economic activity.
Projections for the future indicate that the coastal area will continue
to be home to most of the people, jobs, development, and public expenditures.
So, it is very critical that local communities, the public, and the county,
have access to a wealth of information that will enable them to effectively
manage our coastal resources and manage those community changes that will
be taking place.
We hope that the user finds this web site helpful, useful, informative,
and somewhat entertaining. Most of all, we hope that the information provided
will result in a new appreciation for the unique resources we have in
St. Clair County. The coastline's link of land use and water is very important
to our future. This project will help all of us, local officials, planning
commission members, citizens, students, and developers, ensure that this
coastal resource is preserved and community growth is accommodated as
well.
